How to choose the right black electric golf cart
Check folded dimensions
If you have limited trunk space, measure the folded size carefully. The MGI Zip Navigator All Terrain measures 24 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 16 inches high. This compact footprint allows it to fit into smaller vehicle trunks more easily than larger models. The Alphard Cybercart is slightly wider at 22.5 inches but stands taller at 25.5 inches. Compare these numbers to your car’s cargo area before buying. A smaller footprint ensures you can transport the cart without removing wheels or folding it excessively.
Evaluate remote range
Remote control range determines how far you can walk while the cart follows or operates. The KEMIMOTO ApexR offers a 492 ft remote range, which is ideal for players who want to stay close to their ball. Other models may have shorter ranges, limiting your movement. If you play on wide courses, a longer range provides more freedom. Check the published specs for this number. A higher value means you can control the cart from a greater distance without losing connection or requiring manual retrieval.
Review weight specs
Weight affects how easy the cart is to lift into a car or carry up stairs. The MGI Zip Navigator All Terrain weighs 37.3 pounds, making it one of the lighter options. The CaddyTrek R2 models weigh 39 pounds, while the Alphard Cybercart is slightly heavier at 40 pounds. These differences are small but noticeable when loading the vehicle. If you lift the cart frequently, choose the lighter model. Heavier carts may offer more stability but require more effort to move manually.
Select control method
Decide between remote control and auto-follow technology. The KEMIMOTO ApexAI and CaddyTrek R2 use auto-follow, allowing the cart to track you without constant input. The MGI Zip Navigator uses remote control for precise manual steering. Auto-follow is convenient for walking freely, while remote control offers direct handling on tricky terrain. Choose based on your preference for automation versus manual input. Each method has specific use cases depending on your course conditions and walking style.
Check battery capacity
Battery capacity indicates how many holes the cart can play on a single charge. Most models on this list feature a 36-hole battery capacity, suitable for a full round of golf. The Alphard Cybercart and KEMIMOTO ApexAI both specify this capacity. Ensure the spec meets your typical round length. If you play multiple rounds in a day, verify if the battery supports extended use. A 36-hole rating is standard, but checking this spec ensures you do not run out of power mid-round.
