Key Spec Differences Compared
Target Audience
Edge: Tie
The Wilson Profile SGI Women's Complete Set is designed specifically for women players. It features women's sized soft, all-weather grips and lightweight graphite shafts to match typical swingspeed. In contrast, the Wilson Profile Platinum Tall Carry is built for men. It targets taller male golfers who need extra reach. This set includes ten clubs, offering a broader range of options like a driver, woods, hybrids, and irons. The SGI set focuses on accessibility for female beginners, while the Platinum set addresses the physical needs of taller men with its extended club length.
Club Length
Edge: Tie
Club length is a critical fit factor for comfort and swing mechanics. The Wilson Profile SGI Women's Complete Set uses standard club lengths. This is the typical size for most average-height women golfers. The Wilson Profile Platinum Tall Carry Set, however, features tall club lengths. This extension helps taller male players maintain proper posture and swing plane without hunching over. If you are a woman, the standard length of the SGI set is likely the correct fit. If you are a tall man, the extended length of the Platinum set is necessary for consistent contact.
Golf Bag Type
Edge: Tie
The type of bag included changes how you carry your gear. The SGI set comes with a lightweight, premium cart bag. It features a double-padded shoulder strap, making it comfortable to carry if needed, but it is primarily designed to sit on a golf cart. The Platinum set includes a carry bag. This type of bag is lighter and more compact, designed for walking the course. The SGI bag has three roomy pockets and a fleece-lined valuables pocket. The Platinum bag focuses on portability for walkers. Your choice depends on whether you ride or walk.
Set Composition
Edge: WILSON Profile Platinum Tall Carry 10-Piece Set
The number and type of clubs vary between the two packages. The Wilson Profile Platinum Tall Carry Set explicitly includes ten clubs. This lineup features a driver, five wood, five hybrids, six through sand wedge, and a putter. This variety offers versatility for different shots on the course. The SGI set is a complete set, but the exact club count is not specified in the provided data. It includes a driver, irons, wedges, and a putter. The Platinum set provides a more detailed breakdown of its hybrid and wood options, which may appeal to players wanting more distance clubs.
Weight
Edge: WILSON Profile SGI Women's Complete Set
Total set weight affects ease of handling and fatigue. The Wilson Profile SGI Women's Complete Set weighs 15 pounds. This lighter weight aligns with its design for women players, making it easier to swing and carry. The Wilson Profile Platinum Tall Carry Set weighs 17.1 pounds. This additional weight is due to the taller club lengths and the inclusion of more clubs, such as the extra hybrid and wood. The heavier build of the Platinum set provides a solid feel but may require more strength to carry over long distances compared to the lighter SGI option.
