GoSports vs Indoor Golf Shop Mat Specs
Practice Surface Area
Edge: GoSports Elite 5×5 ft Golf Mat
The GoSports Elite mat offers a 5 x 5 foot surface, giving you 25 square feet of hitting area. This octagon design provides ample space for full swings and varied stances. In contrast, The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL is a narrow hitting strip measuring 4 feet long by 1 foot wide. This 4-square-foot strip is designed to sit on top of a larger base mat. If you need a standalone practice area, the GoSports mat provides significantly more room. The SIGPRO strip requires a compatible base mat to function as a complete hitting surface, limiting its standalone utility.
Mat Height and Feel
Edge: The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL
Height affects how the club interacts with the turf. The GoSports Elite mat stands 0.59 inches tall, creating a firm base that mimics a standard fairway. The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL is much thicker at 2.63 inches. This extra depth comes from a plush 1-inch turf layer and a soft foam insert with compression slots. The greater height on the SIGPRO strip aims to provide superior shock absorption and a softer feel for mishits. If you prioritize joint protection and a cushioned strike, the thicker SIGPRO strip offers a distinct advantage over the thinner GoSports mat.
Tee Integration
Edge: GoSports Elite 5×5 ft Golf Mat
Hitting from a tee is essential for driver practice. The GoSports Elite mat includes eight integrated tee holes. It also comes with three rubber tees of varying heights: 1.5, 2.25, and 3.5 inches. This allows you to set up immediately for different clubs without buying extra accessories. The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy strip allows the use of real tees, but the data does not list any included tees or pre-drilled holes. You must ensure your base mat supports tee placement. For immediate convenience and included hardware, the GoSports mat is the more complete package.
Portability and Weight
Edge: The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL
Moving your practice gear depends on weight and size. The GoSports Elite mat weighs 26.9 pounds. Its 5 x 5 foot footprint makes it bulky to store or transport. The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL is a strip, not a full mat. The data does not list the weight of the strip itself, but its narrow 12-inch width makes it far easier to roll up and store. If you have limited space or need to move your setup frequently, the slim profile of the SIGPRO strip is more practical than the heavy, large GoSports mat.
Replacement and Maintenance
Edge: The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL
Wear and tear is inevitable with frequent use. The Indoor Golf Shop SIGPRO Softy XL features a replaceable hitting strip. This design lets you refresh the worn turf area without discarding the entire base mat, which is a cost-effective long-term solution. The GoSports Elite mat is a single unit with integrated turf and foam. The data does not mention replaceable parts or modular components for the GoSports mat. If you plan to practice hundreds of balls daily, the ability to swap out just the strip on the SIGPRO system offers better longevity and maintenance flexibility.
